Samantha Couture, sales professional at Tiffany & Co., is pursuing a bachelor's degree in business from University of Phoenix.

Some were born to shop; she was born to sell

Not many people say that they think coming to work every day is an absolute joy. Then again, not many people have the same passion for retail that Samantha Couture has. A sales professional for Tiffany & Co. in Providence, R.I., Samantha says, “I was made to work in the retail industry, and I am truly doing what I was meant to do.”

During the course of her nearly-seven-year career, Samantha has interacted with thousands of customers. And she fully appreciates the joy that the gift of a “little blue box” can bring (especially to those brides-to-be). “The impact that I get to make in clients’ lives is what makes me so happy to work in the industry that I do.” As she seeks a bachelor’s degree in business from University of Phoenix with her Dream BIG scholarship, Samantha hopes to learn how to serve her clients even better. “I would truly love to explore the thought processes of typical retail shoppers and learn how to assist them in a more efficient, serviced-oriented manner.”

Drawing on her “drive, passion and love” for the company and its products, Samantha hopes to expand her role at Tiffany & Co. from sales into positions in management and corporate development. Along the way, she aims to continue working with her peers to help them expand their skillsets and achieve their own goals and successes. She looks forward to leading teams and developing tools to assist her colleagues in creating positive customer experiences.

Samantha’s commitment to getting the most from every customer service interaction and deep knowledge of the company’s extensive product line hasn’t gone unnoticed by her management team. “Once someone becomes Samantha’s client, it’s for life,” says Margaret Corini, her store director. “One of her clients even named their first child after her!”

The National Retail Federation collaborates with University of Phoenix to offer the Dream BIG Scholarship to people who work in retail. This year, 20 recipients received full-tuition scholarships to help them pursue their big dreams. Meet the Class of 2014 and learn more about the Dream BIG Scholarship.
