Angela Elder is vice president of event content and education for the NRF Foundation, NRF’s non-profit education and research arm. The NRF Foundation works to “Shape Retail’s Future” by promoting retailing as an attractive and long-term career path and cultivating the next generation of retail leaders. In her role, she is responsible for managing the Talent Acquisition Group, a network dedicated to senior level talent acquisition executives to share best practices and discuss the most pressing talent issues for the retail industry. Elder also oversees the Foundation’s two main Student Programs held in conjunction with Shop.org’s Summit and Retail’s BIG Show.
Elder joined NRF in 2006, and previously managed the Foundation’s training and professional certification programs. In this role, she worked with hundreds of secondary and post-secondary schools and workforce agencies to integrate retail customer service training in their programs and expose jobseekers to careers in the industry.
Elder’s non-profit experience has focused on career development and bringing together the education and business communities. Prior to NRF, she worked for DECA, an organization with over 200,000 student members interested in career development s in the fields of marketing, management and entrepreneurship.
Elder is a Virginia native. She grew up in Lynchburg, attended The College of William & Mary, and now lives in the Del Ray neighborhood of Alexandria with her husband and dog. When she’s not at the NRF office, you’ll find her on a yoga mat. She is a certified yoga instructor and teaches a few classes a week.
