Committee on Employment Law

This committee serves as NRF's technical committee on labor law and employee relations matters, and is comprised of retail industry corporate executives and independent labor counsel, as well as human resource and employee relations executives from NRF member retail companies. The CEL actively files amicus curiae briefs in high profile cases pending before the NLRB and federal courts.

The committee meets in person twice a year (and also holds monthly conference calls) to discuss labor, human resources, and employment law issues, including trends in litigation, recent court decisions of importance to the industry, new policy developments, and best practices in effectively dealing with and complying with labor regulations and state and federal labor law.
