Sam Berndt is a research director at the National Retail Federation. In this capacity, he manages NRF’s policy and workforce-related research by implementing new research on the retail workforce, overseeing strategic research partnerships and developing advocacy research to support the industry’s policy objectives.
Prior to joining NRF, Berndt worked as an economist for ICF, a technology and policy consulting firm. In this role, he managed economic analyses of federal regulations and the agency rulemaking process. He also was responsible for developing economic and workforce development strategies for federal, state/local and private-sector clients. Prior to ICF, Sam served as a program and policy advisor specializing in economic development for the state of Wisconsin.
Berndt received a bachelor’s degree in economics from Luther College and a master’s degree in public policy from the University of Chicago.
