While innovation and entrepreneurship have long been key to the retail industry’s resiliency, it’s never been more important to build connections and develop relationships between retail and the most promising new technology companies.

In my work at the New York Fashion Tech Lab, I’ve made it my mission to identify and support the most exciting startups led by women at the intersection of fashion, retail and technology.

And NRF’s Innovation Advisory Committee, of which I am a member, convenes venture capitalists, tech incubators, accelerators, retail strategists and educators.

Register now for the virtual event.

Now the two organizations are joining forces. On August 11, NRF and the New York Fashion Tech Lab will co-host Retail Tech Spotlight: Tech-enabled Resiliency, a virtual event made possible by American Express. The interactive program will feature quick-fire demos from startups led by women that have built the technologies enabling resiliency for retail.

Drawing upon the Lab’s extensive alumni network and input from Innovation Advisory Committee members, the Tech-Enabled Resiliency event will feature a lineup of startups representing the best innovations to help our industry not only weather this storm but come out stronger.

The lineup includes Obsess, which enables brands to make retail stores shoppable remotely for customers and virtual showrooms accessible for buyers and wholesalers; delivery platform Shipsi, which allows retailers to offer same-day and scheduled deliveries without managing logistics in-house; and Buywith, an online broadcasting shopping platform for brand influencers to livestream online shopping sessions in real time to their followers. Also joining the event are Hafta Have, which allows physical stores to generate data and revenue like ecommerce via SMS, and Jumper, an end-to-end conversational commerce platform that uses a combination of human brand advisors and artificial intelligence.

Jackie Trebilcock is the managing director of New York Fashion Tech Lab, a community-driven, relationship building, collaboration and business development platform. She is a member of NRF’s Innovation Advisory Committee.
