The NRF Talent Acquisition Group met at Burlington’s buying office in New York on September 12 and 13. More than 40 attendees from more than 20 different companies met to share best practices and discuss pressing talent issues.
“The NRF Talent Acquisition Group is an invaluable resource,” says Justin Smith, Burlington’s senior vice president of talent acquisition.
“I have immediate access to benchmarking, thought leadership and strategic problem-solving partnerships. I’ve been in retail and talent acquisition for over 20 years, and I have not found an equivalent to the NRF Talent Acquisition Group. The connections and discussions are authentic, relevant and focused on the success of the retail industry.”
At this fall meeting of the NRF Talent Acquisition Group, SHRM Director of HR Thought Leadership Dr. Mark Smith discussed skill-based hiring trends. Paradox Chief Product Officer and President Adam Godson and Workday Vice President of Product Strategy Neil Jensen explored the future of AI in talent acquisition, and NRF Vice President of Government Relations and Political Affairs Jason Straczewski provided an update on federal and state policies that are impacting talent acquisition.
Other topics discussed included seasonal hiring and using social media to recruit new talent.
“This convening of retail talent acquisition leaders continues to grow because the recruitment of talent across hourly and salaried positions is critical to the health of the business and industry,” says Adam Lukoskie, executive director of the NRF Foundation who leads the NRF Talent Acquisition Group.
“Retail executives focusing on talent find that networking and exchanging ideas at these meetings allows them to more effectively and efficiently attract and retain top talent.”
