The ongoing uncertainty makes it difficult for businesses to plan, and President Trump said this morning that he might wait until after the 2020 elections to reach a trade agreement with China.
Waiting another year for a trade deal with China would be a bad deal for the U.S. economy. As NRF Chief Lobbyist David French said in a statement, “We want and need to see a deal as soon as possible. The tariffs continue to hurt U.S. businesses, workers and consumers and are a substantial drag on the U.S. economy.”
