The simple secret to being a successful manager

For the last nine years, Sally Moore has set the standard for hard work and dedication for every role she’s held within the retail environment. As the current store director for the Tempe, Ariz., At Home store, she applies her leadership skills and thinking for the betterment of the 25 employees she leads, as well as the day-to-day success of the store she manages. From customer service and employee development to inventory control and merchandising, Sally has established her store as a consistent strong performer. So what’s her secret?

She credits two hard-working parents for instilling an exceptional work ethic and drive for success. Combine that with years of experience helping customers, learning the tenets of management and consistently delivering results, and you have the perfect recipe for a bright future in retail. She explains, “I know what it’s like to work the retail hours and I know what it’s like to work at the top. I know I have what it takes to bridge the two worlds together to create the best place to work.”

“With hard work and determination, anything is possible and you can still fulfill your dreams.”

With the help of a bachelor of science in management from University of Phoenix, due to her Dream BIG scholarship, Sally is committed to bringing that same work ethic to completing her degree. After that, she has her eyes on a CEO position. Both for her and to show her kids that the sky is the limit.  “I can show them that with hard work and determination, anything is possible and you can still fulfill your dreams.”
