Enhancing careers and changing people’s lives

If you had asked Victor Letky just five years ago if he would find himself in a retail career today, he would have been a little skeptical. After all, his undergraduate training was in health and rehabilitation services, and his resume included positions with Teach for America and the University of Florida. However, like so many people in the retail industry, once he got a taste, he knew it was the path for him.

In 2012, when Victor joined Goodwill of Southern Nevada, he “dove headfirst into the world of retail and could not be happier.” He was attracted to the nonprofit’s mission to help anyone, through education, training, and employment opportunities, no matter circumstance or disability. He began as a retail trainer working specifically with employees with disabilities and was impressed by the enthusiasm and commitment shown by his team toward Goodwill’s mission. “Our team members are the hardest working, friendliest and most dedicated people in the workforce.”

“We have an organization that believes in people, and my job is to create opportunities for their learning and career growth.”

In his current role as the organization’s training and development partner, Victor supports hundreds of employees in enhancing workplace skills to boost their career development. He believes a master’s in education from University of Phoenix will enable him to serve them even better in the future. He hopes to help Goodwill “get to the next level” in the areas of e-learning and technology integration to make training programs more accessible for all team members. “We have an organization that believes in people, and my job is to create opportunities for their learning and career growth.”
