$100,000 in scholarships available for entrepreneurial students

Have you ever wondered exactly how retailers manage to bring their brick-and-mortar stores to life on a mobile app? Or perhaps you’ve visited your favorite retailer’s Twitter page and thought, “I’d love to manage their social media!”

Digital retail is a popular, fast-growing field in the retail industry that requires top performers – from app developers to social media gurus to web designers.

Interested in this subject? There’s a scholarship for that!

A history of the Ray Greenly Scholarship
The Ray Greenly Scholarship was established to provide financial support to college students pursuing a degree in any field relevant to digital retail. NRF Senior Vice President and Executive Director of Shop.org Vicki Cantrell and several Spring 2013 scholarship recipients discuss the program and the opportunities the scholarship fund provides for students on track to bring their fresh talent and innovative ideas to the retail industry.

Ray Greenly Scholarship

Ray Greenly was Vice President of Research and Member Services for Shop.org, the digital division of the National Retail Federation, before losing a year-long fight with cancer in the fall of 2005. The Ray Greenly Scholarship provides financial support to students pursuing a degree in fields most relevant to digital retail such as engineering, computer science, marketing, business, e-commerce and economics.

NRF and a panel of retail executive judges are searching for students across the country who have the creativity, entrepreneurial spirit and forward-thinking to create new ways to connect retail customers to brands and products.

Recipients will be ambitious, curious, adaptable and have the potential to impact the future of digital retail. Students do not have to be in a retail program or major to apply, but should be able to explain how their chosen major is relevant to digital retail.
