NRF has been conducting its annual Valentine's Day consumer spending survey since 2004 to gauge how Americans plan to celebrate this special day with their loved ones.

Valentine’s Day spending on significant others reached new record

Valentine’s Day returned to its romantic traditions, with total spending on significant others for the holiday expected to reach a record $14.2 billion, according to the annual survey released by the National Retail Federation and Prosper Insights & Analytics.

2024 Valentine’s Day consumer trends

Sparks were flying this Valentine’s Day as consumers got ready to show their loved ones how much they cared. Overall, consumers planned to spend $25.8 billion on Valentine’s Day this year — an average of $185.81 per person, according to the annual survey by NRF and Prosper Insights & Analytics.
