Former Macy’s Inc. CMO Joins NRF Executive Management Team

WASHINGTON – The National Retail Federation today announced that former Macy’s Inc. Chief Marketing Officer Martine Reardon is joining the NRF executive management team as chief marketing officer and executive vice president of content and membership.

“Martine Reardon is one of the most well-respected, innovative and successful marketing leaders with over three decades of experience in retail. Whether contributing to the extraordinary growth of Macy’s Inc. or the planning and execution of the iconic Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade and Fourth of July Fireworks in New York City, her success speaks for itself. We are privileged she is officially joining our executive team,” NRF President and CEO Matthew Shay said.

“Throughout the pandemic, Martine has helped NRF successfully pivot and create new content and events to support our members’ evolving challenges. Martine is the ideal executive to help NRF continue to gain market share by delivering thought leadership through compelling and relevant content for and on behalf of the industry.”

Reardon will be responsible for driving NRF’s marketing, event content and membership strategy. She will identify key partnerships, objectives and necessary investments to achieve the organization’s short-term and long-term goals to advance the interests of the industry.

Reardon served as Macy’s chief marketing officer from 2012 through 2016. She led the company’s 1,300-person marketing organization including advertising, creative, strategy, brand development, social, mobile and digital media, public relations, cause marketing, media planning, and consumer data and insights for more than 800 stores and macys.com. In addition, she presided over the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, the spectacular Fourth of July fireworks shows, and tentpole fashion extravaganzas in New York City and key markets around the country. During her tenure, Macy’s recorded five consecutive years of comparable sales growth, added more than $5 billion in sales and achieved six consecutive years of double-digit growth.
