NRF Vice President Edwin Egee

WASHINGTON – The National Retail Federation today announced that it has hired veteran labor policy expert Edwin Egee as vice president for government relations and workforce development.

“Ed brings a wealth of labor policy experience and expertise to our advocacy team,” NRF Senior Vice President for Government Relations David French said. “Over 50 million American jobs depend on a healthy retail industry, and Ed will be a tremendous asset for those workers as we address the many labor and workforce issues that face our industry.”

“This is an excellent opportunity to work on behalf of an industry that provides both a first step into the workforce and rewarding careers for millions of Americans,” Egee said. “Retail is a huge industry that deals with every aspect of workforce policy and I look forward to working on its behalf.”

Egee will be responsible for NRF’s policy agenda on issues including labor, health care and workforce development, among others. He will manage NRF’s Committee on Employment Law and its Health and Employee Benefits Committee.

Egee comes to NRF from the National Labor Relations Board, where he was director of the Office of Congressional and Public Affairs, overseeing the board’s relationships with Congress, other federal agencies, the news media and outside groups. Prior to the NLRB, he directed federal policy for the Xerox Corporation, advocating on employee benefits, corporate governance and labor issues. He is a former Republican staff director for the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pension Committee’s Subcommittee on Employment and Workplace Safety. He also worked on labor, immigration and employee benefits issues at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, and has more than 20 years of public policy experience in Washington.
