NRF Statement on House Passage of Pregnant Workers Fairness Act

WASHINGTON- The National Retail Federation today issued the following statement from Vice President of Workforce Development Edwin Egee in response to the House passage of the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act.

“The National Retail Federation strongly supports the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act (H.R. 1065), which passed the House today. A product of good-faith bipartisan discussions, this bill includes a balanced approach to provide pregnant employees with important workplace protections and ensure employers have flexible options to accommodate these workers. With the creation of a reasonable accommodation process similar to that contained within the Americans with Disabilities Act, the legislation will allow pregnant employees to continue to work should they choose to do so. NRF urges the Senate to quickly follow suit and pass this important legislation.”
