NRF Welcomes Necessary Aid as Biden Unveils Stimulus Plan

WASHINGTON - The National Retail Federation issued the following statement from President and CEO Matthew Shay in response to the release of President-elect Biden’s plan to combat the coronavirus and stimulate the nation’s economic recovery.

“The stimulus plan released today by President-elect Biden is expansive in scope, but it serves as an encouraging signal that the new administration intends swift action to support businesses and consumers. Jobs have been lost, businesses have been closed and our economy has struggled. We support providing critical government assistance in the form of direct payments to families and individuals whose lives have been disrupted, further aid for small businesses across the country, and tools to keep businesses open and the economy growing.

“There is much work to be done, and retail is playing an invaluable role to help vaccinate as many of our citizens as quickly and safely as possible. In our discussions with the Biden transition team and congressional leaders, there is unanimity in the recognition that we must all work together to overcome the challenges brought about by COVID-19.”
