The National Retail Federation today presented the 2024 J. Thomas Weyant Award to Cailey Locklair, president of the Maryland Retailers Alliance. Locklair was recognized at NRF’s Retail Advocates Summit, where retailers, industry leaders and policymakers from across the country gathered in Washington, D.C., for the retail industry’s premier advocacy event.

The National Retail Federation announced the recipients of the 2024 “Champion of Main Street” and “Hero of Main Street” awards. The “Hero of Main Street” award honors lawmakers who consistently support NRF’s Retail Opportunity Index. The “Champion of Main Street” award honors members of Congress who have demonstrated outstanding leadership on key policies to bolster the retail community.

NRF issued the following statement after the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) withdrew its appeal of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas’ decision to strike down the Board’s final joint employer rule. NRF and other major employment groups filed legal action against the NLRB after the final rule was released in October 2023.

Data released by the U.S. Census Bureau shows modest retail sales gains in June despite an uneven pace of spending in recent months, NRF Chief Economist Jack Kleinhenz said.
