NRF has been conducting its annual Independence Day survey since 2003 to see how Americans will celebrate the July 4th holiday.
Over 216 million Americans (87 percent) plan to observe Independence Day and are expected to spend $6.9 billion on food, according to NRF’s annual survey. It’s the second-highest amount in the history of the survey, down from last year’s record $7.1 billion, as fewer people say they will turn out for the Wednesday holiday.
