When a disaster hits — whether from natural or man-made causes — the safety of associates and customers depends heavily on predetermined protocols that prepare employees for the best course of action before, during and after an emergency. While each situation is unique, several U.S. government agencies have developed disaster guides that are essential for businesses to plan for quick and safe ways to react to these tragedies. 

The Federal Emergency Management Agency coordinates the federal government’s role in preparing for, preventing, mitigating the effects of, responding to and recovering from all domestic disasters, whether natural or man-made. Individual states have their own emergency management agencies, and it is recommended to engage in those states where you operate – they are the first line of support in preparation and response at each state, as FEMA supports a national effort.
