NRF is following the lead of the retail industry in ensuring that diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives remain a priority. Our efforts are focused on supporting retailers, including the 52 million American workers supported by the industry, and ensuring our own organization is leading by example. Efforts include:
- Establishing a Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Working Group for retail members to collaborate on best practices to ensure racial, ethnic and gender equity within the industry.
- Facilitating monthly conference calls for the working group where benchmarking surveys and short- and long-term strategic goals and plans are discussed.
- Convening an internal task force to celebrate and promote diversity, and build an inclusive culture of sincere respect and belonging.
- Surveying retail companies to understand their current D&I priorities and challenges and to provide benchmarks on the processes and programs they have in place to promote a diverse workforce.
