Kathy Grannis is senior director of media relations at the National Retail Federation. As a member of NRF's communications team, Grannis spearheads the communications strategy for the association’s industry-related research and media initiatives, including the release of NRF's annual holiday and economic forecasts and a multitude of consumer trends data. She also represents NRF as an association spokesperson on a host of retail industry issues, appearing in articles from the Associated Press, BusinessWeek, and the Wall Street Journal, and has appeared on an array of broadcast news programs, including the Today Show, NBC Nightly News and Fox News.
Grannis was responsible for the media relations strategy and coverage for the roll-out of NRF’s multi-million-dollar “Retail Means Jobs” campaign, “This is Retail” video contest, and the proceeding This is Retail: Careers, Community, Innovation initiative. Most recently Grannis managed the roll-out of Retail Jobs Week, a five-day industry issue specific campaign designed to highlight the value of retail jobs and the employees who fill those positions.
Prior to joining NRF, Grannis worked at a public relations and event management firm in Washington, DC.
Grannis graduated with a degree in Public Relations from Coastal Carolina University in Conway, SC and a master’s degree in Management for Public Relations and Communications from the College of Notre Dame of Maryland. She was born and raised in St. Leonard, MD and now lives in Washington, DC.
