Zahilys Hernandez is vice president of accounting and controller at the National Retail Federation. In her role, she ensures the smooth functioning and oversight of NRF's accounting operations and the timely and accurate production of financial reports and tax returns. She also works closely with NRF budget managers in the financial oversight of their programs and vendors.
Hernandez joined NRF in 2015 from the American Association for Justice, where she served as controller, managing the finance department and overseeing financial reporting, organizational budgets and internal controls. She started her career as an auditor with PricewaterhouseCoopers, performing financial statement audits of nonprofit organizations.
Originally from Puerto Rico, Zahilys earned a double major in accounting and human resource management from the University of Puerto Rico. She lives with her husband in northern Virginia.
