WASHINGTON, June 18, 2024 – The Coalition for the American Dream, of which NRF is a leading member, is an organization of businesses, trade associations and other groups representing every major sector of the U.S. economy. The coalition released the following statement in response to President Biden's immigration announcement.
"We applaud the steps announced by the president today. Streamlining the waiver process for DACA recipients to obtain nonimmigrant worker visas and allowing Dreamers who are married to U.S. citizens to apply for parole in place will provide more certainty for Dreamers who simply want to continue to build their lives in the only country they call 'home.'
"For years, the Coalition for the American Dream has supported various legislative proposals that would have provided permanent solutions to the plight of Dreamers. Only Congress can provide a lasting solution for Dreamers; however, in the face of congressional inaction, we greatly appreciate the Administration’s willingness to provide additional certainty to these deserving friends, neighbors, family members, and colleagues who continue to support our economy, our communities, and our families."
