WASHINGTON – The National Retail Federation welcomed today’s final passage of the first major postal reform legislation approved by Congress in more than 15 years.

The reforms made in the bill will update the Postal Service for the modern economy and complement current USPS initiatives to provide services and solutions to retailers of all sizes. We applaud the efforts of the bill’s sponsors and cosponsors, who fostered bipartisan support throughout the legislative process.”
The Postal Service Reform Act, which passed the House on a strong bipartisan vote in February, was given final approval by the Senate today and now heads to President Biden for signature. Sponsored by Representatives Carolyn Maloney, D-N.Y., and James Comer, R-Ky., in the House and Senators Gary Peters, D-Mich., and Rob Portman, R-Ohio, in the Senate, the measure will make reforms to modernize the Postal Service and provide financial stability to help the agency deliver reliable and accessible service across the country. The bill’s passage marks the first time Congress has passed major postal reform legislation since 2006.
