Retail law resources
Watch this new members-only retail legal webinar hosted by NRF and Williams-Sonoma’s Danielle Hohos, California Retailers Association board chair, to learn more about the latest updates on PAGA reform.
There's been a historic agreement reached to reform the Private Attorneys General Act (PAGA) to create a better, fairer system for workers and employers. The latest agreement comes after months of discussions between the Newsom administration, legislative leaders, labor advocates and other stakeholders. If passed by the legislature, it would reform PAGA to ensure workers retain a strong tool to bring forth labor claims and receive fair compensation, while limiting lawsuits that hurt employers and employees.
This members-only resource for retailers operating in California provides a guide to help implement and comply with the new California workplace violence prevention law.
Review briefs and track legal cases impacting the industry
NRF’s representation of retailers extends to the courts as laws and regulations often become the subject of litigation. NRF has filed lawsuits of its own, joined retail companies or other trade associations in doing so, and has filed amicus briefs in a number of lawsuits where the retail industry has an interest.
Browse legal briefs NRF has filed, and view our Litigation Risk Trackers to track weekly legal cases.
National Retail Federation partnered with Harbor to conduct a benchmarking study, providing member law departments with insights into a wide range of topics including departmental challenges and priorities, legal spending and staffing, outside counsel and vendor management, technology use and adoption, and AI use cases.
